“…the ultimate destination experience”

Having opened their doors in 1968, The Chaconia has become a landmark in Trinidad with a long rich history.  Knowing this vibrant history of the property, it had long been the dream of the current owners, to run a family owned establishment that is professional while also personable place for guests, such as the Chaconia Inn.

In 1998, the couple began to pursue their dream by starting negotiations with the owners of The Chaconia Inn for its purchase. With their dream coming to fruition the new owners launched into a full renovation of the property and breathed new life and modernization to the Chaconia Inn, re-branding it – The Chaconia Hotel. The doors opening in April 2000.

The wife, who has been in the hospitality industry for over 15 years, has taken the lead on the daily operations of the Hotel, having started out at a very young age with her own business and then going on with a partner to open and operate two successful restaurants. The Chaconia Hotel continues to be an ongoing inspiration to the owners as they strive to make the hotel the ultimate destination experience for all its guests whether it is for business or pleasure.

Chaconia………Reminiscing good times

The first owners - the Duval Family along with a few friends by virtue of their love and devotion for the hospitality industry sought after a then potential business venture, to open a new unique Hotel in Trinidad.

In 1968, the Chaconia Inn was opened for business with a total of 18 standard rooms, a swimming pool and the Haitian lounge (restaurant & bar). Due to the overwhelming support by local and foreign clients, an expansion was commissioned for additional rooms, and entertainment facilities. The Chaconia soon became known as the place to be for a “Trini Limes”, most particularly their Friday “steak” BBQ’s & night life. The lounge in particular gave rise to many local entertainers such as: Dennis De Souza, Robert Bailey, Vic Gonzales, Winston Wallace, David Stoddart, Nicholas Galt, Jiggs, Terry Pinto,  and most notably Denyse Plummer.

This property had since remained a family run business and continues to enjoy a long history of quality dining, entertainment with that personalized touch.
